Alpha Courses

"The more I’ve challenged, the more I’ve
realised how faith can help and heal."

See below for comments from other course members.

Please note that we are not currently running an Alpha Course though we may run them again in the future.  This year, 2008, we will be running a Christianity Explored course instead.

Who is the Course For?

The course is for anyone who would like to know more about the Christian faith, its basics, its foundations and its relevance to life today.  We welcome Christians and non-Christians alike, whether or not you live within our three villages.  The discussion times are always more interesting, lively and profitable if there is a cross section of people from different backgrounds.

Outline for the Evening

We usually start with a meal together.  This is followed by a talk on the theme for the evening, using the videos provided by Holy Trinity, Brompton.  After a short coffee break, there is then time for discussing topics raised and asking questions in groups of around ten or twelve people.  We always finish promptly at 9.45 pm.  The titles of the talks may be found by clicking on the icon below.

Course History

The Benefice has been running Alpha Courses since 1995.  These are usually held on one evening in the week and run for 10 weeks.  On occasion, afternoon courses have also been held.  Different venues have been used including church halls, outside function rooms and private homes.  The courses have sometimes been run jointly with Sileby Baptist Church and with St Gregory's Catholic Church, Sileby.
